St. Mark’s Children's Home

Udayagiri, India | 3082

Udayagiri is a very remote village in Nellore District in the south of Andhra Pradesh. People in this area depend mostly on casual jobs or on daily work in one of the few quarries. There is not much productive land and this belongs to a few individual landlords. In this dry area it is not possible to grow some vegetables for the daily need of the families which is common in most other parts of India. The more valuable is the well belonging to the children’s home which supplies water for cooking, washing and for watering plants.

In 1998 a group of young Christians, who were already active in this area and who wanted to help needy people practically, by financial support and by evangelistic work, started a Christian social society with the goal to give practical help for the local population. They started with educating adults and teaching reading to illiterates. They also bought a property and built a children’s home. But soon it became clear that their own means did not suffice to bear the running expenses for 50 boys admitted in the home. So Christusträger-Waisendienst was asked for support.

Today Christusträger-Waisendienst bears all expenses for accommodation, food and education in this project. Elementary as well as secondary schools are close-by and can be reached easily by the children. This is necessary to give a very good education to the children as a solid foundation for their future life.

With a Christusträger-Waisendienst sponsorship in this project you can make an important contribution to help especially needy children.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
